It has been a long dream of mine to make a throw blanket. If you go through my past blog post, you can see how many I have started. The reason there is no finished blanket on here is because I never got around to finishing them.
Honestly, when I started this Chunky blanket, given my previous history of making blankets, I wasn’t sure if I would finish it. The Outlaw Chunky Queen Bee yarn , and the easy and fun Chunky Blanket Pattern , made this blanket dream of mine come true. To my own surprise , it turned out to be a quick knit.
With the little leftover yarn, I decided to make tassels because I just wanted to use them up and also add a fun element to it. I was tossing between pompoms and tassels but then I decided to go with tassels. I am happy with how it turned out.
Project Details :
Pattern : Chunky Cable Blanket
Yarn : Queen Bee Yarn in Smudge, Yara, Titania and Zelda ( 9 skeins in total)
Utility projects always have my vote. I’ve wanted to make a table runner for our dinning table and a knit one at that.
The pattern for this table runner came from a basketweave dishcloth pattern I had scribbled on to a a piece of paper I have no idea of the source.
Knitting as much as I could with the two skeins of yarn I had, resulted in this Basket weave table runner
I was surprised by how quickly I finished this project. I like to believe that my knitting skills are getting better.
The Lily sugar and cream yarn ,which was a gift from my aunt a long time ago, and the addi circular 4.5 mm needles proved to be the perfect yarn and needle for it. I often forget what I have in my stash until they catch my eye when I’m looking for something else.
Now I’ve decided to keep everything where I can see ,so I know what I have and where. How do you organise your stash? Do you know all that you have or are you like me, out of sight, out of mind?
These are IKEA side tables that I put one over the other to create a bigger table.
and put some of my favourite things on top.Doilies I made, a cute and whimsical metal tree I found at Daiso, a filigree casket that my dh got for me long back, lanterns I found sometime back also at Daiso and pictures of my boys on frames that my sister got for me and a tulip vase my aunt gave me below.
Life gives you scraps?!……..why? Quilt of course!!Well that’s what I’ heard and Did it too. People, you heard that right …… I am learning to Quilt. Did I hear someone mutter, “like she needed more hobbies”?!!!
Anyways, I saw this ad on paper, and decided to take the Quilt Workshop right away.impulsive as always Its fascinating, totally addictive _ more ,because, I have an incredibly patient teacher. I think, I tested her patience to the limits. You see, I got the sewing machine right on the day before the workshop!! I had trouble figuring out how my machine works, (Yea,I know, even that ) getting the quarter inch seam , doing a single straight line stitch, strip piecing, cutting, everything in simple words………. STILL……… I managed to come this far!!!!Not bad Huh?
see those pins there? Its not completed yet.I am also working on a Sampler Quilt which is making ‘Good Progress ‘. Once you figure out the cutting and stitching,I think its going to be total fun. I love Quilting so far _ going to the store and choosing fabric, trying to put the pieces together, see the quilt take shape_ there is not a single thing I dislike yet .What makes it so very interesting ,is that it is almost like doing a jigsaw puzzle, which is one of my other favourite things to d
